Wanted to draw something with TP Link and OOT Link :D and I've always liked the fantheory that the Hero's Shade is the ghost of OOT Link even if there's no proof other than he's left handed and called "Hero's" shade XDDD bu it's a neat theory, hence the golden wolf and oot link and yaddayaddayadda xDD

Not that we know of. By the sounds of it he regrets dying before passing on his teachings, so it sounds more like he died in battle or sickness and it was out of his control.

when OOT ended there were three diffirent time lines. One of Link as a child. (which twilight princess follows) another one when Link was an adult. and a third one in whic adult Link has lost his battle against Ganondorf.

Nintendo confirms in "hyrule historia" that the guy who teaches you the hidden skills is the Link from the timeline that has lost against Ganondorf.

With all due respect, I know all of this already since I own the book itself. In the image description I even reference Hyrule Historia. I gotta correct you though, your last statement is wrong. Nintendo confirms in Hyrule Historia that the guy who teaches you all the hidden skills is the guy from OOt/MM (Hero of Time) who died "with a lot of regret" since his deeds as the hero were not remembered and he couldn't pass down his skills. It is even mentioned that TP Link is blood related to the Hero of Time. If the HOT had died TPLink wouldn't exist as the HOT had not had any children by the time he had his fight against Ganondorf.

The timeline where the hero "loses" to Ganondorf spouts the timeline with Link to the Past, OOA/OOS, LA, etc... Recheck it and you'll see c:

They are too far apart by centuries to say. So for the time being, no, they arent. At leats Hyrule Historia doesnt mention anything.

so TP Link and OOT Link aren't centuries apart? but that doesn't really make sense then. because in OOT tehre were kokiri's and in TP not.

There are some years. They dont specify, but OOT is probably TP's great grandfather. In the book they also explain Gerudo disappeared because of a fight they had with the kingdom of hyrule over condemning Ganondorf, and that the kokiri faded away or somethig of the like. There's still skullkid so either kokiri died out or they all turned into skullkids as the years passed, or just hide themselves compltely etc. It's all up to interpretation.

Creatures/tribes can die out or disappear, it occurs in real life too.

This reminds me of QueenieZ's Hyrulian Valhalla Saga...
And that got me thinking. I support the idea and love the fact that the Hero's Shade is The Hero of Time and that TP Link is following in his foot-steps and being actually taught by OoT/MM Link.

But there is another Link that was more aware that he was following in OoT/MM Link's footsteps despite not being aided directly: WW Link. Ever since Nintendo spilled that Hero's Shade and OoT are one and the same it disappoints me that WW Link doesn't get the "father and son" (or something like that) relationship with OoT Link like TP Link does. If I had to call it anything it would be favoritism. But I'm sure OoT Link would have aided WW Link too if he had known what would happen in that timeline. Or maybe even that OoT Link DID know what was going on with WW Link and wasn't able to aid him after helping TP Link, I mean he did finally pass on after teaching his final move to TP Link. Maybe if you finally pass on you can't really do that kind of thing again. He could have been like one of them poes and was roaming Hyrule with the regret of not being able to kill Ganon due to lack of strength or Zelda interfering or whatever.

One thing that was kinda funny if you really thought about it in WW was that the statue of OoT Link was protecting Tetra/Zelda even after death/disappearance. And he to a sense "died" doing that. (as in the statue being broken)

Oh and I just noticed an error in the picture. Its the right eye that should be "blind". Not the left... not unless your playing the Wii version... which this clearly isn't. *cough*left-hand*cough*

Haha I think Hyrule Historia contributed to everyone doing fanworks of these two together, including Queenie's awesome HVS~ The amazing thing here is, this drawing was made literally like 2-3 years or more before Hytule Historia came out. It feels amazing that a fantheory was proven to be true :D It was one of the very few theories I was passionate about.

Hmm, you forget one thing about WW though... Link didnt exist in that timeline. Zelda sent him back in time, remember? He ceased to exist in that reality. It's not favoritism, It's more like circumstances. Remeber that Ocarina of Time splits in 3 timelines, but there are two main ones: The Child Timeline, and the Adult Timeline. In the Child timeline, link goes back to being a kid because Zelda made it so so he could live out the childhood he lost. Majora's Mask takes place after that, then TP, but he still lived out and died and turned into the Hero's Shade. In the Adult Timeline, Zelda sends Link back so he literally ceases to exist in that plane, therefore, that's why he can't aid WW in anyway - he doesn't exist anymore. And I doubt Time possessed the ability to jump on dimensions lol.

That's a nice reference to the statue :3

And yes, the eye is wrong. I realized it a long time ago but I had lost the original file of the deviation and couldn't fix it. XD

well I'm sure Time can't just jump timelines in the after-life, but as I said before; I'm sure if Time knew of the split in time, I'm sure he still would of wanted to help his successor(s) regardless. He did die regretting the fact that he didn't actually kill Ganondorf when he had the chance. (well, that's the common theory)

One thing that bugs me on that now thinking of it: Now if when Link went back in time to being a child shouldn't he had attempted to kill Ganondorf anyway? If you consider that maybe he would be the one mostly responsible for what happened in TP. Oh wait... maybe that is what he is regretting! He didn't have the power to kill him as a child due to some reason! Perhaps prison security or no Master Sword or something?(like his heart still being broken by Zelda) Maybe when he came back to Hyrule as an adult (since now he could properly use the Master Sword) Ganondorf was banished to the twilight realm (like what they said in TP) before he could properly kill him! If I was Link in that situation, I'd be regretting it and wanting to properly train my next successor.

DAMN! I better remember this conversation for my Zelda story! I'm currently writing a story that follows 24 or 25 years after the end of MM. Its to explain some things in TP, plus as a way to put the Hero of Time to rest. I'm seriously thinking that Twilight is more of a direct descendant of Time (like grandson or great-grandson). Question is how far down the road is Twilight to Time? I have this one idea of Time and Twilight "meeting" at the end of my story with Time's death. Twilight being just a newborn or just his mother being pregnant with him.
You can find my story on fanfiction.net here: [link] It's called "A Final Tale". Planned to be finished 10-26-12 (MM's 12th anniversary and my dog's 3rd birthday)

What is this "3rd timeline" split you speak of? I haven't read HH yet.

Oh yeah; Hyrule Historia will be released in English January 29th next year! Here's a link to it on Amazon: [link] Awesome for me since that's just a few weeks away from my 22nd birthday! (My birthday being the 11th)

Look, I love HVS but let's stick to canon here lol. He probably would've liked to help Wind after he found out about everything but fact still remains that HVS is a fanmade universe so as much as I love it I cannot use something fanmade to back up my arguments discussing ing-game/Hyrule Hitoria stuff. Sorry I just don't roll that way ^^; I like to keep canon and fanon separated when discussing actual in game lore so as to not make the line between them fade and get confused on what is real and what is not.

Anyway. As the players that sounds like the saner idea since we know what happens, but picture this: You are the only kid with memories of something terrible that was to happen in the future... but you are the ONLY ONE that knows it, and the princess is the only one who believes this story of yours because well, she's Zelda and has prophetic dreams. You still have to deal with the fact the King trusts Ganondorf by that time since Ganondorf is still pretending allegiance to the King and hasn't done anything wrong yet. You can't really prove he's guilty with no evidence save your spoken word. Zelda mentions that her father brushes aside her dreams. So what makes you think they will take a 10 year old seriously? By what its mentioned in Hyrule Historia, it took a LOT of time for them to find Ganondorf guilty and sentence him. If Link had attempted anything before that he would have been considered a murderer and also treason because he attempted against the life of one of the Kings "allies".

And no, he wouldnt be responsible anyway because the sages DID attempt to kill ganondorf but the triforce of power kept him alive. So chances are that even if Link had tried to kill him as a child/teen, Ganondorf would have not died either. Link would not be able to grab the mastersword anyway because he didnt have the 3 sacred treasures either and getting them would trigger everything he already went through all over again! That's why Zelda merely sent Link away with the Ocarina of Time so Ganondorf stood no chance at getting what he got in the original timeline.

Frankly, following in game information I believe that Link never attempted that because he could only beat Ganondorf with the mastersword, and getting the master sword meant opening up the sacred realm again and giving Ganondorf access once again, which Link knew had been his and Zelda's initial mistake. Things here get fuzzy because Ganondorf ends up with the triforce of power somehow (apparently Link arriving with the triforce of courage triggered something in the past and the triforce broke up) but Link did not know that. But Ganondorf had been sealed off in the Twilight Realm anyway. It is unknown if Link had returned from Termina by then or not.

However it is mentioned officially that Time turned into the Hero's Shade because he died regretting not having had the chance to pass down his tehcniques in case evil arose again. That's why he stayed behind and waited for the next hero, to pass down his knowledge and make it easier for the newbie to deal with it. And yes, it is confirmed in the encyclopedia that TPLink is a direct descendant of Time, most likely his grandson or great grandson, they do not mention it in detail.

Aonuma also mentioned in an interview that TP takes place about 100 years after OOT, I believe.

The third timeline is an "Alternate/AU" timeline detailing how history would go down if Time died in the battle with Ganon. It goes that after Link is killed the sages still manage to seal up Ganondorf and the triforce in the Dark World. The games that occur in this timline (chronologically) are Link to the Past, Oracle of Ages and Seasons, Link's Awakening, Legend of Zelda, and Zelda II.

I really recommend reading Hyrule Historia online, all that I've mentioned comes in there and it could solve some of your doubts too.

And yes I know, found out some weeks ago~.

Ah OK makes sense. Well I'm basing my theories off my fan-fiction story ideas. I actually totally forgot about that the King believed Ganondorf at first. (I think for some reason he is the same one from WW, but I'm changing that up for my story) Anyhoo Ganondorf only has very few mentions in my story. Once at about... Chapter 4 or 5 just vaguely mentioning that he was convicted and imprisoned. And again towards the end with Link actually foreseeing the events of TP on his death-bed thanks to the Triforce of Courage he still has. I plan for him to give it to TP Link right before he dies. TP Link will still be left with no real knowledge of what the mark is, but explaining why he has it.

But there is ONE slight plot hole with OoT Link having the Triforce still... how the hell was WW Link able to get it? I figure maybe that unlike Link or certain people, the Triforce cannot be "transferred" to a different timeline, so it got broken up and spread across Hyrule for WW Link to eventually find it.

Well now I have a general idea of the timeline but there is 3 games I'm a tad confused with: Minish Cap, and the Four Sword games. Do they exist in an entirely different timeline or something? I haven't finished either of the Four Sword games but I know Ganon shows up in Four Sword Adventures cause I read the manga. The plot of FSA sounds like ALttP (never beat that either) and TP. Perhaps since the three are in different timelines they are essentially "history repeating itself"

Hmm... well if TP takes a hundred years after OoT then that screws my theory of an in-between OoT and WW. WW is supposed to be 100 years after OoT as well. I was thinking since there is a theory on different dimensions that if an event occurs in one timeline/dimension than a similar event happens in a parallel. So I thought that WW was farther ahead time-wise than TP (not in the same timeline as it) but the events of TP still happen in the WW timeline except there is no Link to "save the day" (an AU would be a good way of putting it) eventually causing Ganondorf to be released and the Great Flood to occur. pretty much what was vaguely explained during the opening of WW. I mean it could fit.

But 100 years? Damn... that doesn't help me for my story ending since Time is supposed to die at the age of 64. I figured it would be a funny easter egg for an age for Time to die at.

Oh well, I was hoping to just give some friendly advice regarding Hyrule Historia to a fellow Zelda fan. Oh well, but maybe I'll read it online. I'm still buying that book though. I've been a Zelda fanatic for as long as I can remember (same with Star Trek). I got into it when watching my Mom play Zelda 2 when I was really little, and then I just fell in love with the series when I played OoT and eventually MM. Anyway can you give me a link to the online translation please?

Well this conversation has been helpful and inspiring. Thanks Feri-san.
